Scripture Union Daily Guide 17th February 2025 Outline:

Korah was a Levite, whose family, the Kohathites, had the very important responsibility of looking after the holy things of the Tabernacle (Numbers 3:27-31). Korah was not satisfied with the position God assigned him. He was jealous of Moses and Aaron. Consider their privileges as itemised by Moses in Numbers 16:8-10a. Enumerate your blessings too. Do you thank God for them and rejoice over the success of others? Beware of such influential people in your church and what they can do. Don’t sideline them either.

Note how Moses and Aaron dealt with the rebellion (Numbers 16:4-5). In the final analysis, against whose authority did Korah rebel (Numbers 16:11)? Are you prepared to allow the Lord to be the judge when you are wrongly accused?.

Moses wanted to reason with the other accusers (Numbers 16:12-14). Were the charges of Dathan and Abiram fair (Numbers 16:13-14)? Whose fault was it that they have not entered the Promised Land (refer to Numbers 14:20-23)? People generally tend to have very short memory. “Put out our eyes” literally means “throw dust in our eyes to fool us or enslave us.”

Notice the testimony of Moses in v.15 (cf. 1 Samuel 12:3-4). No one could accuse him of misusing his position. Are you using your position to glorify God or to enrich yourself?

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer: Lord, give me a submissive heart desirous to serve you wherever you place me.
