Scripture Union Daily Guide 20th June 2026 Outline
Notice how precious God’s Word is to His people (Psalms 119:49-52)! The Word of God gives hope (Psalms 119:49). His promise preserves life in times of suffering (Psalms 119:50), and we can find comfort in His ancient laws (Psalms 119:52). Any wonder then that the Psalmist resolved to maintain his focus on living by God’s Word despite ridicule from people (Psalms 119:51,54)!
Similarly, our faith is being attacked today in the media and on other platforms, but His decrees must be our watchword wherever we are. What example is there in the Psalmist’s attitude and practice regarding God’s Word for us to emulate (Psalms 119:55-72)? Like the Psalmist, it is important that we make obedience to God’s Word our daily practice (Psalms 119:56).
When we are truly convinced that the Lord is the fountain and foundation of our lives (Psalms 119:57; cf. Genesis 15:1-6; John 6:68-69), we will resolve to learn and obey His Word delightfully. The wicked are not a threat to us despite their callous and malicious words. Ours is to remember God’s Word, make haste to obey Him and endure hardship for the moment as loyal soldiers of the Lord.
Closing Prayer
Turn Psalms 119:61 to prayer – “Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law.”
Prayer of Faith
Offer a prayer of faith in line with 2 Corinthians 4:17
