A soul is precious to God

Scripture: Matthew 18:12-20

Question(s) For Meditation:
► Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 24th March 2025 Outline

Notice the great love the shepherd shows for the one lost sheep (Matthew 18:12-13). Similarly, God, our Great Shepherd, does not desire the loss of any of his “little ones” (Matthew 18:14). He values each person. He seeks, restores, and rejoices when His straying children are safely restored to the fold.

This message is for parents to emulate God’s concern for the lost. Your child may hurt you when he/she goes astray but the Lord will give you grace to diligently seek, find, and restore him/her to the family and to God. Church leaders, instead of sending your straying youths out of the church, your responsibility is to seek and mentor them.

As a group, we may sometimes offend each other. It is said that as close as the tongue and the teeth are, they sometimes quarrel. Jesus acknowledged that people in a group will often offend one another. Notice the three steps He outlines to restore harmony, unity, and love and who takes the initiative (Matthew 18:15-20).

Starting privately gives a chance for apologies and possible reconciliation. Notice that the context of Matthew 18:18-20 is settling of dispute. The Christian community has a delegated authority from the Lord to handle disputes.

And So:
God does not want anyone to perish but that all shall repent and turn to Him. Let this be our desire and pursuit.
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
Help me, Lord Jesus, to be your agent of restoring human souls back to you.
