Scripture Union Daily Guide 25 December 2025 Outline

Like most young people, Joseph and Mary had their futures planned out. They had been planning their wedding. What do you think this could include? In some cultures, that would include arrangements about the kind of dresses, cake, reception hall, decorations, entertainment, music, cameramen, place of honeymoon, etc. Suddenly, Mary was found to be pregnant (Matthew 1:18). If you were Joseph, how would you have responded to your fiancée’s pregnancy?

God sent an angel to tell Joseph, in a dream, that the pregnancy is the handiwork of the Holy Spirit. Mary had not been unfaithful (Matthew 1:20-21). Notice how Joseph reacted to the whole saga. What can we learn from him (Matthew 1:19,24,25)?

Joseph believed the angel and obeyed every instruction God gave him, even when, it was difficult and though he did not understand the details. Divine interruptions can be painful but to be true disciples of Christ, we need to follow the examples of Joseph (see John 14:15; Luke 6:46).
