Scripture Union Daily Guide 26th April 2025 Outline

We continue with the story of Reuben and Gad who confirmed again to Moses their promise to obey the Lord by not neglecting their brethren in their quest to secure their inheritance (Numbers 32:27). Moses was not working alone in ensuring that what was agreed upon was implemented; especially as he would not be there at the implementation stage. Notice therefore, the careful and proper order he followed in giving Reuben and Gad their inheritance and the key people he involved in the process (Numbers 32:28-29)?

Like Reuben and Gad here, Israel as a nation has continually promised to obey the Lord and do everything He says (Exodus 19:8; Exodus 24:3,7) but unlike them, they had continually failed (Judges 2:11–13,17). Have we too on occasions failed to obey the word of God and do His will in the way we live? True commitment to God is shown in our daily obedience of His word. Read Joshua 22:1- 6 to see how these tribes remained true to their word. Their word was their bond, a clear challenge to us today to always be true to our word.
