The Pharisees asked a spiritual question with a legal clothing. What, however, was the motive behind their question? Read v.2 again. The crowd, made up of possibly men who would like Jesus to approve their position on divorce must be disappointed by His response.
Jesus focused on the spiritual implication of marriage just as it was intended originally.
Marriage is a life-long relationship. Both husband and wife have their responsibilities – wife to respect and be loyal to her husband and the husband to love his wife sacrificially. In vs.5-11, Jesus equates the sin of adultery to divorcing one’s spouse and marrying someone else. Read Malachi 2:16 and note God’s mind on divorce. Read also Matthew 9:9 for the exception to the rule. Even then, love does cover multitude of sins.
What other lessons can we learn from the way Jesus dealt with wrong attitudes towards children (vs.13-16)? We need, like children, to totally trust and depend on our heavenly Father. How does Christ’s gentle rebuke of His disciples and acceptance of these children (vs.14-15) highlight the importance of children ministry?

Commit Christian homes to the Lord in prayer today. Pray that the Lord may deliver them from little foxes that seek to destroy their vineyard.

► Dying for us on the cross and declaring that the power of sin over our lives is finished.
► Making us to be alife to Him in Christ Jesus.
PRAY FOR:
· Grace to keep knowing that the flesh has become crucified with Christ, and that it is no longer I who live but Christ.
► Deliberate decision to remind myself daily that those who belong to Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
► Strength to daily submit totally to the Lordship of Jesus and not to mere elementary principles of the world.
► For peaceful election, security of lives and property during the election.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Failing to allow the dead flesh remain dead, there by going back to our vomits.
► Bearing fruits for the flesh instead of bearing fruits of righteousness for God.
