OPENING PRAYER: Make my life oh Lord a reflection of you as I study your word.

SCRIPTURE: Luke 11:14-26

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 28th February 2022 Outline

Why is it that people find it so very hard to break away from besetting sins and addictions? Many try very hard to stop themselves from destructive habits, such as smoking or pornography or casual sex, but cannot. Even when they receive good Christian counselling and prayers of deliverance, it is not easy. Let us face the fact: Satan is strong – much stronger than any man! As our people say, “Only a fool tests the depth of the river with both feet.” That was the lesson which the seven sons of a Jewish priest named Sceva learned the hard way, (Acts 19:13‐16).

We must be careful not to make their mistake. We do not go hunting for demons; but when we are in the business of the Lord and they challenge us, we must not run away. Our Lord is the Stronger than the strong who can bind Satan, the strong man, (vs.21‐22). We must also take note that anyone who has been delivered from the power of Satan requires ongoing support, (vs.24‐26). That is why we all need to be strengthened by the fellowship of other believers and to keep on being filled with the Holy Spirit!
