TODAY’S TOPIC: THE PRIESTS’ ROLE IN ALL THESE!
SCRIPTURE: As I read your word O Lord, grant me an insight and grace to do your will in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: LEVITICUS 6:8-30

Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 5 June 2024 Outline:

The first remarkable role of a priest is to keep the fire on the altar burning perpetually (vs.9,12-13). The burnt offering on the altar must be left there all night and so the first thing for the priest to do the following morning is not only to clear the ashes of the fat of the previous offering burnt, but to add fresh woods to keep the fire burning. We too must keep the fire of our place of prayer and spirituality always burning.

We do this by setting time aside to regularly meet with the Lord in prayer and personal meditation on His word. How is the fire on your altar burning (compare Revelation 3:15,16)?

We should also watch against bringing strange fire upon the altar. We shall come back to this in a few days. The grain offerings are in two categories: that which the Priest can partake of in a holy place and the other that is offered to the Lord wholly. Note the significance of the aroma of the burning grain offering.

The moistened flour with olive oil, burnt in a fire can produce a sweet smell to the Lord. Our prayers go to God in a similar way, as we call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Note also the difference between what a priest (with or without a family member) can and cannot eat (vs.24-30).

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Dear Father, grant me the grace of discipline to maintain a sustained and constant fellowship with you daily.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 9:18
“For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.”
