TOPIC: THE LORD IS OUR REDEEMER
OPENING PRAYER: Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name
SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 43:1-13

Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q5: Is there any warning for me to heed?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 7TH APRIL 2024 OUTLINE

The Lord assures the people of Israel that since He is their Redeemer, they need not be afraid of any adversity. Reflect on v.2. What should this mean to us modern-day believers? What kind of adverse conditions have you ever experienced? Can you recollect how you felt under those circumstances? What kind of assurance does v.2 offer us? The Lord assures us of His protection because He loves us (see v.4). The Lord also assures His people that He will restore them to the Promised Land (after being sent into exile, vs.6 and 7). The Lord promises us His presence always, therefore “Do not be afraid!”
In vs.8-13, the prophet shows us the incomparable nature of God: there is no other god like Yahweh; “No one can deliver out of my hand. ‘When I act, who can reverse it?’” There can be no saviour besides Yahweh (v.11). The prophet urges us to have absolute faith in God (Yahweh, the Lord) as the only being who can save us in any situation. Read vs.8-13 carefully and see the reasons the prophet assigns for our need to trust absolutely in the saving grace of Yahweh; “Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me” (v.10).

I KNOW THAT MY REDEEMER LIVETH
1. I know that my Redeemer liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know eternal life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

Refrain
I know, I know, that Jesus liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know, I know, that life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

2. I know His promise never faileth,
The Word He speaks, it cannot die;
Though cruel death my flesh assaileth,
Yet I shall see Him by and by.

3. I know my mansion He prepareth,
That where He is there I may be;
O wondrous thought, for me He careth,
And He at last will come for me.

Closing Prayer
Lord, grant us the grace to trust you as our Saviour and Redeemer in all situations of life.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 121:1 ‐ 2
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
