Today’s Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 November 2022

In today’s reading, we see how Paul used the opportunity to present Christ to the angry crowd that attacked him earlier. From vs.1‐2, we read that Paul addressed the Jews in the Aramaic language. This is to say that they should listen to him as he identified himself with them.

This was enough to get them to listen to his “oration”. Here we see how the use of the ‘heart’ language attracts the listener to the gospel, a useful tool in evangelism. In Africa, the official languages are mostly English or French or Portuguese. How fluent are you in speaking the dialect of your own people? Paul’s speech from vs.3‐16 was about how he encountered Jesus and became a follower and servant of Jesus of Nazareth (cf., Acts 9:1‐19).

He presented his encounter so concisely and clearly that everyone understood him as he was talking in their native language. Personal testimonies about Christian conversion can be really effective in presenting the gospel of Christ and a very useful tool in evangelism. You cannot give what you do not have. It is important that we note God’s divine purpose for Paul as stated in v.21.
