Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 November 2024 Outline:
When everything goes well, people tend to forget God the giver until we hit the wall. Beltshazzar probably, was celebrating his birthday, or just throwing a party as some kings of those days living for pleasure would do. Under the influence of wine, notice what he, his nobles, wives, and concubines did (vs.2,3). He did not only desecrate the holy treasures from God’s temple at Jerusalem; they praised their idols too (v.4).
Notice what followed immediately (v.5), Oftten, proud men who dare God forget that He is the owner and giver of life and all they have. See what followed in v.6, his desperate call-in v.7 and his helplessness (vs.8,9). People in authority, yes! all who have no regard for God, must know that it is dangerous to toy with the Most High and His glory.
All who trust in idols or their wisdom and riches must accept that none of these can rescue them in times of adversity or when they face God. Read vs.II-I2 again and see the challenge for all Christians in public service and government houses. Many compromise their stand and Christian witness for money or fear of men but not Daniel. Notice his secret in these verses.

O Lord, may your Holy Spirit dwell and control my life in such a way that is obvious to others.

â–ºAn opening of eyes for us in SU that we can see doors fo opportunities and prosperity God has opened for his children.
