Scripture Union Daily Guide 9th April 2025 Outline

Jesus predicted his death to the disciples. Notice those conspiring to kill Him (Matthew 26:3-4,14-16). Among them were religious leaders and a close friend. Oftentimes those who conspire against us come from unexpected sources – fellowship, church, family, and colleagues in our offices. And they may be doing this with a price tag (Matthew 26:15). Today, close relatives still betray their own to kidnappers, armed robbers, etc. May the Lord protect you from betrayal.

A woman poured a very expensive perfume on Jesus’ head. To what end (Matthew 26:12)? It was the Jewish culture to anoint the Passover lamb two days before the Passover to declare it good and fit for the sacrifice. Anointing Jesus, the Paschal Lamb, was in preparation for His crucifixion and burial. But notice the reaction of His disciples (Matthew 26:8-10)!

How often are our commendable services condemned? Our good intentions may receive the most scathing criticisms. We should note that it is not what people say about us that is important, but what the Lord says (Matthew 26:10-13). We must maintain a purposeful relationship with God. Then, we will not be distracted or discouraged by people’s criticisms of our truly commendable services.

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer:
Lord Jesus, you first gave your life for me. Please help me to give you my best, no matter what people say.
