OPENING PRAYER: “Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.”

SCRIPTURE: Acts 11:19-30

Question(s) for Reflection
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?

Peter was criticized by his “home church” after his missionary outreach (vs.1-3). Read vs.19-20 and notice what happened to this ‘seating church’. In our time, there is the need to turn the ‘seating’ church to ‘outreach’ church. Who knows the reasons for perils the present church is passing through? Idleness, too many programmes, activities and meetings are not the core mandate of the Church as necessary as those may be. Her core mandate is to move out and win souls.

V.21 is evidence of fruit of obeying the great commission. God’s power was with them and many believed the gospel and Church was formed with the arrival of godly leaders (vs.22-28). The life of Christ in leaders and members will build the church and attract the unsaved to God’s congregation. In Antioch, believers were first called Christians, Christ’s people (v.26). Why do you think the people gave them this ‘nickname’? Can unbelievers call you a Christian? How can we practice vs.29-30 today?

• And so: We must reset our mindset in line with God’s heartbeat and calling to win souls into His kingdom

Closing Prayer
• Please Lord Jesus, set my heart on fire to seek the lost, and may my life attract people to you.
• Thank God in anticipation of the dawn of a productive and happy week.

Prayer for the week
Pray for more genuine laborers in the household of God. Truly the harvest is ripe, but genuine laborers are few. Pray also against making merchandize of the flock of God as we see currently happening in our Land. Pray for Anglican Communion.
