TOPIC: GIVER ABOVE GIFTS

SCRIPTURE: “And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.” (Luke 1: 23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

It is instructive to observe that after Zachariah received the word of the Lord through Angel Gabriel, he stayed back to complete the days of his ministration in the temple before leaving for his home. Zachariah received good news from the Lord, but it did not get in the way of his service to God. He received a mind-blowing promise that would have excited anyone who heard it, but the excitement was not enough to stop his service.

Friend, no matter the miracle that comes your way, and no matter the good news that God unveils for you, stay on your assignment. Stay at your duty post. Stay in the place of that responsibility that heaven has bestowed on you. Stay focused in the place of your devotion, dedication, commitment, consecration, etc. to God. Remain prayerful even after your prayers have been answered. Remain committed even when God has rewarded you. Don’t go home because you got a promise.

May it never be said that you heard the word of the Lord and thereafter reduced your commitment to God. May it never be said that God smiled on you and you suddenly walked away from your divine assignments. May it never be said that your miracles negatively affected your walk with God and service to God. May it never be said that what God did for you became more important to you than God Himself. May you not get your miracle and lose God. May your miracle not be a distraction.

When the chips are down, no gift is more important than the Giver Himself. No miracle can replace God in your life. No blessing is enough or should be enough to make you lose sight of the pleasure you must bring to God. No gesture of heaven should make you put your service to God on hold. No matter what God does for you, never make the mistake of walking away. Don’t allow your miracle to be the end of your walk with God.

Remember, after today’s miracle, you will need more miracles tomorrow. How will you get new gifts if you let todays gift make you walk away from the Giver?

Colossians 2: 10 says: “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”

Declare With Me: No matter what I receive from God, I will not lose my place in God, in Jesus’ name!
