TODAY’S TOPIC: DARE TO SAY NO
SCRIPTURE: “But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.” (Matthew 25: 9)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
In our Focal Scripture, after being asked by the foolish virgins to spare some of their oil, the wise virgins responded by saying “Not so”. They paid the price to have extra oil, and when people who were not wise enough to do the needful, requested to take some of their oil, they were courageous enough to say no. They were not ready to run short of oil on account of unprepared folks. An idea was floated to put destiny in jeopardy, and they said no.
Friend, in 2023 and beyond, when questions arise to put your destiny in jeopardy, be courageous enough to say no. When the temptation to live carelessly arises, say no. When laxity starts lurking around, say no. When destiny destroying relationships show up, say no. When people or circumstances show up to encourage you to tone down your passion and love for God, say no. When a journey of decline beckons, say no. Be bold to say no.
Notice that these ten virgins were not strangers to one another. They appeared connected in words, in deed and even in purpose, but that was not enough for the wise ones to say yes to what would truncate their destiny. In 2023 and beyond, don’t let your connection to anyone make you say yes when you should say no. Don’t allow how long you have known them to make you accept a yes when a no would save your soul.
The wise virgins said no, and their place in the marriage feast was preserved. They refused to say yes to what would put their destiny in jeopardy, and they ended up in their rightful place in destiny. If you dare to say no to certain temptations that the enemy is bringing your way, you will preserve your space in the new season that God is bringing your way. If you say no to sin, laziness, compromise, prayerlessness, etc., you will burn and shine.
Dear burning and shining light, you will not die if you say no when your destiny is at stake. Let the courage to say no be bestowed on you greatly in 2023.
Proverbs 1: 10 (TPT) says: “When peer pressure compels you to go with the crowd and sinners invite you to join in, you must simply say, “No!””
