TODAY’S TOPIC: GIVE THANKS 2
SCRIPTURE: “And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.” (John 6: 11)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
In our Focal Scripture, while getting ready to feed the multitude that came to Him, Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks. Jesus was moving from a comfortable place of having no one to feed, to a more complicated place of having to feed a multitude at once, and He began by giving thanks. In a moment of transition from one season to another, He gave thanks. While moving from the familiar to the unfamiliar, Jesus gave thanks.
Friend, as you move into unfamiliar terrains, enter with thanksgiving. As you move from one season to another, be intentional to move in with thanksgiving. As you move from where you know to where you do not know, enter the season with thanksgiving. As you move from the place where all you have are expectations, with no assurance of what is to come, enter with thanksgiving. As you transit to higher levels, transit with thanksgiving.
It is wisdom to be transiting into a season where you do not know what the future holds, and you still give thanks. Whilst entering into realms that are not clear to you, give thanks. Be thankful to God when you do not have the future well figured out. Be thankful even when your heart is overwhelmed. Be thankful even if you can’t see the way to go. Be thankful even when you seem stranded. Be thankful in the midst of the unknown.
Thanksgiving is a major key in your transition moments. Thanksgiving will position you well when you do not know what to do with the future that is unfolding before you. Thanksgiving will water the grounds for divine intervention as you access your new season. Thanksgiving is your key to prevail as you move from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Thanksgiving will position you rightly as you make your way into uncharted territory.
Even if the next move you are about to make leaves you in a place of uncertainty, let your thanksgiving be certain. Even when you are not sure what next to do, be sure to give thanks for the unfolding new season.
Psalm 136: 1 says: “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
Declare With Me: As I approach my new season, I go with thanksgiving, in Jesus’ name!
