SCRIPTURE: “And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.” (John 2: 6)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
It is instructive to observe that the six waterpots in our Focal Scripture were positioned primarily for the purpose of helping people to find water to wash their hands and feet as was the custom of the Jews. So there was no other role set out for them. They were going to become unimportant as soon as there was no other guest who needed washing of hands and feet. Because they could only serve one purpose, their relevance was limited.

Pastor Jerry Eze | Streams of JOY Devotional 23 June 2022

Friend, glean some wisdom: if you remain a one class act, fit only for ‘washing of hands and feet’, you will soon become irrelevant. If you have capacity to fit into the present but lack capacity to be part of the future, you will soon be caught in the realm of oblivion. If you make the mistake of building your relevance around something that is time bound, what will you do when the time elapses? If you remain a one class act, how will you rise?

The moment every guest at that wedding in Cana of Galilee had washed their hands and feet, there was nothing more for the waterpots to do. They had simply become irrelevant even while the party was still on. They had lost their relevance because they had done the much they were wired to do. I pray for you: may you not become irrelevant while the party is still on. May you not lose your importance while events are unfolding.

Jesus was about to turn water into wine, and He turned to the waterpots. He made room for the waterpots to become relevant again. Today, I pray for you: may the opportunities for more relevance locate you immediately. May new seasons bring you more platforms for relevance. May the new doors that open and the doors that close, make room for more relevance on your part. May your relevance be reactivated.

Dare to reinvent yourself. It’s not enough to hold on to yesterday’s relevance. Dare to be relevant for today and also for tomorrow.
Isaiah 35: 3 says: “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.”
Declare With Me: I will not lose my relevance, in Jesus’ name!
