TODAY’S TOPIC: IDENTITY VS. CAPACITY

SCRIPTURE: “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6: 9)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how there was a lad with five loaves and two fishes. That lad may not have been the only lad in the multitude, but he stood out for having five loaves and two fishes. He was a young boy, he was called a lad, but he had what was used to feed the entire multitude. His identity was that of a lad, but he carried what could feed a multitude. He was a small boy, but he had the capacity that could feed the multitude.

Friend, destiny demands that you have capacity irrespective of your identity. Destiny demands that you show up with capacity that will feed the multitude. You may never be taken seriously until you are found with what could feed the multitude. Destiny demands that you carry more than what you need, so that it can feed your ‘multitude’. Destiny demands that your capacity is significant enough to make a huge difference.

There is a generation that loves to have a great name, though not necessarily great capacity. There is a generation that loves to have a name without having the ability that goes with the name. In all your getting, get the capacity that exceeds your age and identity. Be intentional to have capacity that will attract the attention of kings. Be intentional to carry the capacity that will make the difference. Be filled with capacity.

It is an error for people to rate you highly, only to come close and see that you really are not all they thought you to be. It is an error to seem like a person who can make a huge difference, only for people to come closer and see that you really are without the capacity they thought you had. May it never be said that you had a name bigger than what you can really do. May it never be said that you looked bigger than your true capacity.

Grow your capacity. Rather than focusing on how people will perceive you, focus on what you truly carry. In the end, identity is nothing when capacity is missing.

2 Corinthians 4: 7 says: “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

Declare With Me: I choose to carry the loaves that will feed the multitude, in Jesus’ name!
