Streams of Joy Today Devotional 24th January 2024: Pastor Jerry Eze

PASTOR JERRY EZE DAILY DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY 24 JANUARY 2024

You are reading Today’s Streams of Joy Daily Devotional for 24th January 2024 written by Pastor Jerry Eze.

TOPIC: GOD, NOT MAN

SCRIPTURE: “The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.” (John 5: 7)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Jesus asked the man at the pool of Bethesda if he would be made whole, the man responded by telling Jesus how he had no man to put him in the pool. He had the maker of the universe in front of him, but his mind was fixated on what a man could do for him. He had God standing in front of him, but he told the tale of how he had no man to make the difference. That man literally took the space meant for God, and gave it to man.

Friend, in 2024, run away from the error of giving to man the same space that should belong to God. Don’t give the faith you should give to God, to man. Don’t give your confidence in God to man. Don’t give your desperation in God, to man. Don’t make the mistake of looking to man for what you should look to God. Don’t make the mistake of putting your trust in man when you should trust God. Don’t keep your eyes on man.

Jesus began a conversation with that man about healing, but the man soon made the conversation about the men he did not have. He reduced what God could do for him to a matter of the men he had or didn’t have. Don’t reduce the subject matter of what God can do for you, to an issue of the men you have or don’t have. Don’t make your next level all about the men you have or don’t have. Don’t make your rising seem like it is about men.

Whereas God will use men on earth to work in your favour, your fixation should remain on God, and not on men. Your hopes should remain in God, and not in men. Your confidence should remain in God, and not in men. Your faith should be in God, not in men. Your trust should be in God, not in men. If God will do a thing for you, it will be because He chose to do it; it won’t be because there are men willing or unwilling to do it.

The story of the man at the pool of Bethesda changed, not because of man, but because of the God who sees. Keep your eyes on God; and never give the space of God, to a man.

Psalm 60: 11 says: “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.”

Declare With Me: I will not give the space of God to men, in Jesus’ name!
