Teens Devotional 14 October 2021 Our Daily Bread | Message
Imagine going to school one day and being met by your teacher, who says, “Come and see me after school. I’d like to talk to you about how you’re doing in class.” This could make you very nervous as you think about what your teacher might say. You ask yourself, How does my teacher think I’ve been doing? Is there a problem? Did I pass that test or am I getting bad marks?
As important as these meetings with our teachers are, the Bible talks about another, far more significant review. After we die, we will stand before God. Paul wrote, “We must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due to us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Cor. 5:10).
But unlike meetings with our teachers, we know what God will say to those who trust Him. Because Jesus paid for our place in heaven, we won’t be worried that God will turn us away. And because we belong to God, we won’t worry about what other people may think of us. We will simply want to hear Him say: “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:21). The challenge for us is to rely on Jesus for each and every day, focusing on Him as we look forward to hearing Him say, “Well done”.
KEY POINT: FOLLOWERS OF JESUS LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING HIS “WELL DONE”.
