Daily Devotional October 26, 2026: Seek First the Kingdom and Take It a Day at a Time
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 6:33-34
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Start the Week With the Right Order
Monday brings a long list: work, bills, family needs, deadlines. It is easy to start with the list and squeeze God in if there is time. Jesus reverses the order. He says to begin with the kingdom, and then trust Him with the rest.
What the Passage Teaches
Priorities Shape Peace
“Seek ye first” is about order, not perfection. When God is first, other things find their right place and weigh less.
God Knows What You Need
Just before this verse, Jesus reminds us that our Father knows we need food, clothing and shelter (Matthew 6:31-32). “All these things” refers to those needs. Seeking Him does not mean ignoring responsibilities. It means trusting Him with the results.
Tomorrow Has Its Own Help
“Take no thought for the morrow” does not forbid planning. It forbids carrying tomorrow’s worry today. God gives grace for each day as it comes.
