Daily Devotional October 23, 2026: Delight in the Lord and Commit Your Way
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 37:4-5
“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Ending the Week With Trust
Friday is a natural time to look at what is unfinished: goals not reached, prayers not yet answered, plans still uncertain. David offers a calm way forward, built on two actions: delight and commit.
What the Passage Teaches
Delight Changes Our Desires
To “delight” in the Lord is to enjoy Him, to find Him more satisfying than the things we want from Him. As that happens, our desires are reshaped to match His good will.
Commit Means Hand It Over
The Hebrew idea of “commit” is to roll your burden onto God. It is a decision to stop carrying the outcome yourself.
Trust Waits for God to Act
“He shall bring it to pass.” The promise is that God does the work. Our part is to trust Him, not to force results.
Reflection Questions
- Do I enjoy God’s presence, or do I mostly come to Him with requests?
- What plan or worry do I need to roll onto Him today?
- Where am I trying to make things happen in my own strength?
Today’s Action Step
Spend five minutes simply thanking God for who He is, without asking for anything. Then write one plan or burden on paper and pray, “Lord, I commit this to You.”
Closing Prayer
Father, teach me to delight in You more than in Your gifts. I commit my way, my plans and my weekend to You. I trust You to bring it to pass in Your time. Amen.
