Today’s Topic: Discover Your Wings
Scripture: He was like an eagle hovering over its nest, overshadowing its young, Then spreading its wings, lifting them into the air, teaching them to fly. – Deuteronomy 32:11, MSG
Today’s Word
For the eaglet, the nest is a blessing for a time. High on a cliff, it’s safe, comfortable, well taken care of. Life is good. But at a certain point, the nest will no longer be a blessing; it will be a hindrance. The eaglet can only develop so far in the nest, and if the mother doesn’t stir things up and make it uncomfortable, it won’t learn to fly or to survive. Sometimes the nest we’re in is too small. As much as we like it, it’s limiting our ability.
You’re comfortable, provided for, protected, but the problem is you’ll never discover your wings in the nest. You’ll never reach your potential without having to stretch, try new things, develop new muscles. You may think, “What’s happening? Things have changed, and it’s more difficult. My friend walked away, and my coworker won’t help me anymore.” You may not like the stirring, but it’s God working in your life to help you discover your wings and learn to fly. When He does, don’t shrink back. You’re going to rise to levels you never thought possible.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that You know what’s best for me, and You’re pushing, stretching, and enlarging me for a reason. Thank You for what’s uncomfortable and for bringing change. I believe that You’re stirring things up so I will spread my wings and rise to a higher level. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Everyone is on a journey. Where they are now is not where they’re going to be in ten years. Give them room to change. They may not believe like you believe, they may have different views, that’s okay. Just keep loving them. The seeds you plant in people’s hearts are still alive. The soil may not be ready yet, but at the right time, God will soften their heart.
The Scripture says, “God inhabits the praises of His people.” He doesn’t inhabit complaints. He doesn’t inhabit worry, frustration, “Why is this taking so long? These children are getting on my nerves.” That doesn’t get God’s attention. But when He hears you talking about His greatness, praising when you could be complaining, declaring His promises when you’re up against giants, thanking Him that He’s working when nothing is changing. That’s when God says, “Let Me step in. Let Me fight that battle. Let Me make a way. Let Me bring promotion, healing, favor.”
