Today’s Word On Joel Osteen Today Devotional 14th January 2021
When I look back over my life, I see that the pivotal moments when I really grew came when I was pushed. At the time I didn’t like it, and I wanted to stay where I was. I wouldn’t have done it on my own. God had to shut doors and force me to take steps of faith. He pushed me into my purpose.
When things are stirring in your life, when things are uncomfortable and you don’t get your way–a door closes, a friend betrays you–shake off the self-pity and get ready for new doors to open, for new opportunities, new skills, and new friendships. Don’t complain and say, “Well, that’s just my luck. I never get any good breaks.” Turn it around and say, “God, I know You’re in control, and You’re stirring up things because I need to stretch and spread my wings. You’re about to take me to a higher level. You’re about to push me into my purpose.”
Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that You know what’s best for me, and You’re pushing, stretching, and enlarging me for a reason. Thank You for closed doors as well as open doors. I believe that You’re stirring things up so I will spread my wings and rise to a higher level. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

His father always encouraged him to preach, but Joel would politely decline time and time again until one day in October 1999 when his father was admitted to the hospital with kidney complications. Joel finally agreed to preach the next Sunday, and his father passed the following week. Joel’s first sermon was the last his father ever heard. Joel and his wife, Victoria, were suddenly thrust into full-time leadership of Lakewood Church.
