Max Lucado Devotional 16 July 2024 Message: Blind to the Future

READ TODAY’S DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR 16TH JULY 2024 BY MAX LUCADO

TODAY’S TOPIC: BLIND TO THE FUTURE
We are blind, blind to the future. Just ask Jairus. He is the leader of the synagogue, the most important man in the community. But the Jairus in this Bible story is not the clear-sighted, black-frocked civic leader. He is, instead, a blind man begging for a gift.

He falls at Jesus’ feet, saying, “My daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so she will be healed and will live” (Mark 5:23 NCV).

You know, there are times in life when everything you have to offer is nothing compared to what you are asking to receive. The situation is starkly simple: Jairus is blind to the future, and Jesus knows the future. So Jairus asks for help. And Jesus, who loves to give new beginnings, goes to give it. He’ll do the same for you. Do you face an uncertain future? Ask Jesus to help you.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR OF THIS DEVOTIONAL: Max Lucado is a pastor, speaker, and best-selling author who, in his own words, “writes books for people who don’t read books.” He serves the people of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, and his message is for the hurting, the guilty, the lonely, and the discouraged: God loves you; let him.

As a writer, Max is known for combining poetic storytelling and homespun humor with the heart of a pastor. All of his trade books began as sermon series at Oak Hills Church, and his sermons all begin with Max asking himself this question: “What can I say on Sunday that will still matter on Monday?” He’s been dubbed “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today, and “The Best Preacher in America” by Reader’s Digest.
