TOPIC: RESULTS OF FAITHFUL GIVING (I)

Fire Scripture: Phil. 4:14 – 20

OUTLINE: MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 24TH APRIL 2021

Giving as commanded by God in the Bible has the power to position you for a life of supernatural and fulfilment. It is what Christianity is all about. If all Christians, including you, form the habit of giving, there will not be lack in God’s house. God commanded you to bring your tithe to the store house that there may be meat in His house (Mal. 3:10). God promises to bless you when you are obedient in your giving. He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19).

If you give faithfully to the work of God, He will supply all your needs. Faithful giving is one of the first things you should establish in your daily walk with Christ. You must be ready to give so at to walk with Him and to further the gospel. Faithful giving is investing in eternity (Phil. 4:17). What you are doing when you give faithfully is laying treasure for yourself in eternity. You may ask, “What do I give to God?”

You can give many things to Him: you can give your alms to the poor to relieve them of poverty in form of food, money, clothing, and so on. Whatever you give to the poor, Jesus said you have given it to Him (Matt. 6:1-4, Matt. 25:35-36, 40). You can give your tithe (Lev. 27:30; Mal. 3:8-11). You can give your offering, your time, Your God-given talent, your energy, your praise and worship, and so on.

Beloved, it pays to give sacrificially and faithfully to the Lord. Giving is both an act of obedience and worship. It is done in response to faith and God rewards it. Remember that Abel’s faithful giving earn him God’s approval and commendation (Hebrews 11:4). His brother’s giving was not approved and appreciated by God. This shows that He sees what you give (quality and quantity, the motive behind it and so on).

If all these are not right and deserving, God will not honour what you give. More importantly, you must be God’s friend, living in His will and accepted by Him for your gift to be acceptable. The gift and sacrifice of a sinner is an abomination to Him. Beloved, learn from the errors of Ananias and Saphira, the couple in the early church who lost their lives for being unfaithful in their giving!

Memory Verse: 2 Cor. 9:7 – “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity, for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

Motivational Quote: It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Prophetic Word: I decree that henceforth, you will never lack anything good, in the name of Jesus.

That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

2. ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

3. Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath bro’t me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

4. When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
