MFM Daily Devotional 5th March 2021 Today Message – Deliverance For The Lawful Captive

You are reading Today’s MFM Daily Devotional for Friday 5th February 2021; written by Pastor D.K Olukoya. May you be blessed as you read on.

TOPIC: DELIVERANCE FOR THE LAWFUL CAPTIVE

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 49:24-26

OUTLINE: MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 5TH MARCH 2021 TODAY MESSAGE

The Bible established the fact that there are lawful captives. A captive is someone that is held hostage or in bondage, a prisoner or a slave. There are physical captives and there are spiritual captives. A spiritual captive is one held in spiritual bondage. He may be conscious or not conscious of his captivity. Nonetheless, he is a captive.

A lawful captive is one who falls into bondage or captivity by breaking the laws of God or falls into sin. God is pure and holy and He punishes sin. When a person falls into sin, he consciously or unconsciously surrenders his rights to satan and satan has the right to punish him by putting him in bondage, slavery, prison or place a yoke upon him. He, therefore, becomes a lawful captive of satan (2 Timothy 2:26).

Sin opens the door of our lives to captivities (2 Timothy 3:6). When a person regularly commits a particular sin and finds it difficult to break away from it, he becomes a captive of that sin. There are captives of lust, adultery, fornication, drug abuse, addiction, lies, pride, ostentatious living, power, covetousness etc. This is a proof that the person is under the captivity of an evil habit and the soul is in bondage.

When the soul of a man is in captivity, he will not be conscious of the spiritual happenings around him. The soul is the greatest asset of a man and that is the greatest target of the kingdom of darkness. What shall it profit a man if he loses his soul and gains the whole world (Matthew 16:26). This implies that our soul is more valuable to God than our possessions.

God places high premium on our soul. The greatest captivity therefore is the captivity of the soul. Any area of our lives: body, finance, marriage, academic can come under captivity. When a person is constantly plagued by sickness, the body is in the captivity of sickness. When a person is regularly experiencing an unexplainable financial failure, this is a sign of financial captivity.

Today you need to repent from all your sins and invite the spirit of God into your life so that the spirit of God can set you free from all forms of captivity (2 Corinthians 3:17). This is the major work Christ came to do on earth (Luke 4:13). Jesus came that he might set us free from both physical and spiritual captivities as well as to restore all hopes and lost blessings.

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is that spirit: and where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty”

Motivational Quote: The greatest captivity is to be ignorant of your captivity.

Prophetic Word: The Lord will arise and make your captivities captives, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: How Sweet The Name Of Jesus Sounds

And to the weary, rest.

My shield and hiding place;
My never failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace!

My Prophet, Priest and King,

Accept the praise I bring.

With ev’ry fleeting breath;
And may the music of Thy name
Refresh my soul in death.
