Scripture Union Daily Guide 18 August 2024 Outline:
The people of God had marched around Jericho for six days with trumpet blasts but without saying a word. What a discipline, what an order! One cannot really go far with God without discipline and order (1 Corinthians 9:25-27; 14:40). Note that going around a whole city once on foot is not a child’s play. Consider the time it took them to go round the city once in a day, then seven times on the seventh day.
The wall that fell was thick enough to hold houses on top including Rahab’s house. How did it happen? What other instructions did Joshua give the people in vs.17-19? God’s instructions in His word are meant to be obeyed. We live by faith.
The people went into the city to destroy the enemies following the fall of the wall. Believers work in partnership with God to bring about miracles and victories over the enemy. Do not stay passive and expect things to happen. Did they keep their promise to Rahab (vs.22-23, 25)? Christians should be known for their integrity.

Closing Prayer
Father, give me grace and self-discipline to follow your instructions and directions strictly.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Lamentations 3:24
“The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.”
