After the Philistines seized David, they must have congratulated themselves that they had overcome their archenemy. They did not reckon with David’s faith and his God. Enemies come in all forms and shapes. What should our response be? See vs.1-4. Like David, tell it all to Jesus. We cannot fight these battles in our own strength, but we have a God who covers our back. God’s faithfulness to His promises should provide strength and encouragement in the darkest moments.
The extent to which the enemy will go in trying to destroy the children of God can be frightening. Enemies spend their waking hours plotting evil (vs.5-7). The good news is that our God knows, and cares, about us and will not abandon us to our enemies. See vs.8-11 and Romans 8:31.
Vs.12-13 provide guidance on our response to God for His grace towards us. Do you keep a Gratitude List? If not, start one today.
