Today’s Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 December 2022
This Psalm is the outpouring of a heart that has lived to experience the goodness of God. When was the last time you experienced God’s goodness? Observe how David, the ‘man after God’s own heart’ firmly decides to bless the Lord in every situation (v.1). David has been facing danger with his enemies threatening his life and pursuing him.
Many of us regularly face numerous dangers especially those living in countries at war or where persecution is fierce. May we find encouragement in v.4 like David, who was delivered from his enemies each time he cried out to God (cf. Psalm 145:18). What lessons can we learn from David’s declarations in vs.7‐10? We must understand that the way to life, also repeatedly taught in Proverbs, is to have ”the fear of the Lord’’ which is the beginning of wisdom.
David compares the righteous with the wicked in vs.15‐21. Note the things that the righteous will receive as they trust and fear the Lord. Compare this with the consequences of doing evil (vs.16, 21).
