Today’s Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 30 October 2022
Alliances, collaborations, and partnerships are inevitable in the world we live in today. However, a wrong alliance will take far more from us than we can ever imagine (1 Corinthians 15:33). Jehoshaphat, like most rich people, entered into marriage alliance with Ahab, probably to protect his wealth and position (v.1). See 22:10 for the result of that ‘innocent’ alliance.
Read vs.2‐7 again. What can we learn from Jehoshaphat in v.4? Observe the response of the 400 prophets (vs.5, 9‐11). What does this tell us about their character? Not satisfied with their prediction, Jehoshaphat asked if there was another prophet of the Lord who could be consulted (v.6). Notice Ahab’s reply and comments about Micaiah (v.7). What does this tell us about Ahab?
Truth is bitter and always pricks the conscience. In these last days, many, like Ahab, prefer flattery and lies to the truth (2 Timothy 4:3‐4). But we must be open to the truth and never hesitate to speak it to everyone, including those in authority, though we may be hated and persecuted for it.
Practice/Word Application
So What? When one voice contradicts what the majority is telling you, it is a signal to be careful, so you don’t fall into avoidable danger.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
