Daily Devotional October 17, 2026: Do Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly
Today’s Scripture: Micah 6:8
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
What Does God Actually Ask of Us?
Many of us carry a long list of religious expectations and wonder if we are doing enough. Micah cuts through the noise. God has already shown us what is good, and He sums it up in three simple, practical requests.
What the Verse Teaches
Do Justly
Justice means treating people fairly in everyday life: honest dealings at work, fair words about others and standing up for those with no voice.
Love Mercy
The verse says to love mercy, not merely to show it when convenient. Mercy is kindness we choose, especially toward people who cannot repay us.
Walk Humbly With Your God
Humility is not thinking poorly of yourself. It is remembering that we depend on God daily. Notice the word “walk”: it is a steady, ongoing relationship, not a one-time event.
Reflection Questions
- Where is God asking me to act fairly or speak up?
- Who needs mercy from me today?
- Where have I been walking ahead of God instead of with Him?
Today’s Action Step
Choose one of the three: do one fair or brave thing, show one act of unexpected mercy, or spend ten quiet minutes walking humbly with God in prayer. Then thank Him for the opportunity.
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for showing me what is good. Help me to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You today. Amen.
