Scripture Union Daily Guide 4 April 2022 Devotional | Outline

Observe how God’s anger intensified because of the continued wickedness of man (vs.5‐7). It should worry us that the period just before the second coming of Jesus Christ fits the description of what preceded the destruction of the earth by flood during the time of Noah (Luke 17:26‐27). As people marry and multiply and so does their wickedness.

Although God had shortened the number of days for man’s life as a further punishment for their continued sinfulness (v.3), that did not deter them from their evil ways. It is unimaginable that God would reach a point of regretting that He ever made man (vs.6‐7). Though man knows this truth, that God in His wrath destroyed the earth and spared only Noah and his family, his attitude towards God has not changed.

What can we learn from the life of Noah? For every generation, God avails an ark of hope for those who are prepared to sacrifice the pleasures of sin in order to be separated for Him (vs.14‐22; see Philippians 3:4‐6, 10; Hebrews 11:24‐25).

Practice/Word Application
Reflection: What enabled Noah to ‘stand alone and remain righteous and blameless’?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Pray that you may find favour in the eyes of the Lord just as it was with Noah.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Proverbs 3:24; Deuteronomy 22, 23, Acts 27
