MFM Daily Devotional 29th March 2021 – Make A Proof of Your Priesthood (11)

You are reading Today’s MFM Daily Devotional for Monday 29th March 2021; written by Pastor D.K Olukoya. May you be blessed as you read on.

TOPIC: MAKE A PROOF OF YOUR PRIESTHOOD (II)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matt. 19:13-15; 18:1-6

OUTLINE: MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 29TH MARCH 2021

Child training is inevitable. A child left to himself bringeth his mother shame. Eli was a man who tasted shame because of his children. Mrs Eli was not even mentioned in the Bible. She did not give her children any command. Eli was a priest in Israel, he failed in the area of child raising. The two children (Hophni and Phinehas) became very notorious and were dreaded by people.

Following our yesterday’s discussion, to make a proof of your priesthood, it would be necessary to remind ourselves that child training is enviable. It is compulsory for parents and is a command from God (Prov. 22:6). The training and nurturing has to be done according to divine standard. That is, following divine guidelines. No parent is perfect, hence no perfect human parent formula.

To do it correctly, you need to become the father and mother after God’s own heart. When you know God, walking in His ways and doing His will, it won’t be hard for you to train and lead your children in the same way. Godly fathers, in support of godly mothers lead them to Christ, just as Hannah did to Samuel. Pass on your faith in Christ as Eunice and Lois to Timothy, and Zechariah and Elizabeth to John the Baptist.

Be the teacher of the word and the house like Aquila and Pricilla (2Tim 2:15), revealing the truth and the unfailing promises of God. Help them to grow up, knowing that we should watch and pray without ceasing. Let them be like the sons of the priest who keep the fire in the altar burning and blazing hot for the Lord. Don’t forget to inculcate the right moral values which are integral part of godly character.

Help them to cultivate and manifest godliness from their youth, seeking God right early (Eccl. 12:1) Today’s world is infested with physical and spiritual pollution and this is catching so fast on the young ones, especially the youths of this generation. Parent, do everything within your power, in partnership with the Holy Spirit, to teach and watch on your children live a life of holiness and righteousness, within and without.

Teach them how to avoid the defilement of body, soul and spirit. Make them to know the benefits of godly association and relationships as well as the consequences of evil association (Ps 1:1-6). Don’t forget discipline always. Be loving, firm and strict. Let your discipline be purposeful and commensurate with the offence. Don’t provoke your children to wrath (Eph. 6:4). Remember they are humans too.

Make them your pride and a befitting crown at you old age (Prov. 17:6). God trusts you, as he trusted Abraham. Fathers, instruct and mothers teach; both of you should model God for these young ones to emulate. As you do all these and more, you are raising worthy generations for God.

Memory Verse: 1 John 5:3 – “For this is the love of God that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.”

Motivational Quote: You cannot bribe God. All that He wants from you is to obey and hearken to His voice which is better than sacrifice.

Prophetic Word: Your children shall not serve their enemies and bring shame to your family, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: There’s a Friend For Little Children

1. There’s a Friend for little children
Above the bright blue sky;
A friend who never changeth,
Whose love can never die.
Unlike our friends by nature,
Who change with changing years,
This Friend is always worthy
The precious name He bears.

2. There’s a home for little children
Above the bright blue sky,
Where Jesus reigns in glory,
A home of peace and joy;
No home on earth is like it
Nor can with it compare,
For every one is happy,
Nor can be happier there.

3. There’s a robe for little children
Above the bright blue sky,
A harp of sweetest music,
A palm of victory.
All, all above is treasured,
And found in Christ alone:
Lord, grant thy little children
To know Thee as their own.

PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING:
1) Begin to thank God for the opportunity that He has given you to train a child.
2) Holy Spirit, overshadow my children, in the name of Jesus.
3) Holy Ghost fire, swallow up my children, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING:
4) My children shall not bring forth trouble, in the name of Jesus.
5) Thou power of God envelop my children, in the name of Jesus.
6) My character shall not mislead my children, in the name of Jesus.
7) Begin to thank God for answered prayers.
