Scripture Union Daily Guide 19 October 2025 Outline
It is noteworthy that Elihu seemed to be quite knowledgeable in God’s word. Habitual study of the Bible enhances our knowledge and understanding of God. However, we also need to learn to interpret the Scripture correctly. Compare Job 34:11 with Psalms 103:10-11. Even though God does not approve of sin, He is willing to forgive us if we sincerely repent. From yesterday’s passage, the speaker continued to defend God by emphasizing His attributes. Job felt that he was being treated like a sinner and yet God would not come to court to tell him what he had done wrong. Elihu recalled Job saying he was innocent and had been denied justice (Job 34:5). In Job 34:10, Elihu highlighted the righteousness of God and contradicted Job’s belief that God is the source of evil and good (Job 2:10). God punishes, He is just, He is all-powerful and almighty.
Was Job guilty according to Elihu? Just as a natural child has the right to complain to his father, so does a child of God. He is capable of defending Himself. He has answers to all our questions.
Food for Thought
God does no wrong to His people.
Insight

To God be the glory
1. To God be the glory,
Great things He has done;
So loved He the world
That He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life
An atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate
That all may go in.
Refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father,
Through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory,
Great things He has done.
2. O perfect redemption,
The purchase of blood,
To every believer
The promise of God;
The vilest offender
Who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus
A pardon receives.
3. Great things He has taught us,
Great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing
Through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher,
And greater will be
Our wonder, our transport,
When Jesus we see.
Closing Prayer
Oh Lord, help me to endure through life’s pain and trust in Your faithfulness, even when I do not comprehend Your ways.
