Scripture Union Daily Guide 30 December 2023 | Hear me O God, as I voice my compliant

Do You Know That? Daily Guide Reading is published by Scripture Union Press & Books Ltd, an arm of Scripture Union Nigeria. Daily Guide is a true nondenominational, interdenominational Christian Bible engagement/reading aid – meditate on the Bible without denominational colorations. May the Lord bless you as you study!

Today’s Topic: Hear me O God, as I voice my compliant

Opening Prayer: Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 64: 1-10

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 30 December 2023

In today’s passage, we see David passionately praying for God’s help and protection from his enemies (vs.1-2). His enemies attacked him with their tongue and not with physical weapons. The imagery of the sword and arrow used here paints a clear picture of how dangerous the tongue can be. James 3:6-8 called this small member, ‘a world of fire that can let loose the fire of hell’. He further added that for any Christian who cannot control his tongue, his faith is useless (James 1:26). Only God can tame the tongue, and the extent to which the Holy Spirit controls your life is reflected in how you use your tongue.

Mention some of the evils David’s enemies did from vs.3-6, and what God would do to such people in vs.7-8.
Are you faced with the same type of enemies in your family, neighbourhood, office, or church? Let vs.9-10 encourage you to keep calm, be prayerful and wait patiently for God’s help to bring you relief. On the other hand, be watchful that your attitude does not constitute a problem or danger to others as well.
