TODAY’S TOPIC: CHECK YOUR COMPANY
SCRIPTURE: “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.” (Matthew 25: 1)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
One thing that is evident in our Focal Scripture is that there was a group of ten virgins, who all took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom. These were ten carriers of light, who decided to share a company with fellow carriers of light. They were light carriers and maintained a company of fellow light carriers. They were burning and shining lights, and they chose the company of fellow burning and shining lights.
Friend, in 2023, as you live as a burning and shining light, be intentional to surround yourself with fellow burning and shining lights. Surround yourself with men who are also on the move. Surround yourself with men who are filled with the presence and fire of God. Surround yourself with people whose lights can increase your own light. Surround yourself with people whose passion and commitment to God are similar to yours.
This year, choose your relationships wisely and intentionally. Choose relationships that fan your capacity into flames. Choose men that add to your prayer fire. Choose men who are as focused as you want to be. Choose men who are true examples of who you want to become. Choose men who are actively carrying their own lamps. Choose men who are also in a journey like you. Choose men who want to be with the bridegroom.
As you bear the light that God has planted in you, also be careful to stay away from people whose mission is to extinguish the light that you are carrying. Walk away from men who dilute your destiny. Walk away from men who make your destiny lighter instead of weightier. Walk away from men who cause your light to go down. Have nothing to do with men who are not interested in carrying light. If carrying the light is not their priority, walk away.
Remember, true carriers of light are surrounded by fellow carriers of light. Surround yourself with carriers of light in 2023 and even beyond.
Proverbs 13:20 says: “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
