TOPIC: NO MORE WEEPING
SCRIPTURE: “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters…” (1 Samuel 30: 6)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
As David joined his men to weep over the loss of their wives and children, they soon began to speak of stoning David. The same men who joined David to weep were suddenly in search of stones with which to stone David. David was their leader, their destinies were connected to his, he was their leader, but when he focused on weeping, he soon became endangered. Weeping positioned him to become a victim.

Friend, if all you do is to keep weeping over what the enemy has done to you, you are simply positioning to become a victim of the enemy. If all you do is to throw a pity party in response to your battles, you will end up being consumed by the stones of those around you whose destinies are tied to you. If all you do is to sulk on account of what is not working, you just might get yourself so worked up that worse things may happen to you.
David was the leader of those men whose wives and children were also taken away, and whilst they may have had the privilege of weeping, David who was their leader ought to have done better. Sometimes, the reason why you must not join others to cry like people without hope, is that there are destinies tied to you; there are men whom you must show leadership; there are people looking up to you to know if they should remain hopeful.
Instead of leading others to cry and weep, lead them on the pathway of strategic actions for results. Instead of showing men how to successfully weep over their misfortunes, show them how to rise against the tide and break out of the confines of what happened to them. Instead of taking the lead in displaying emotions, take the lead in showing how not to be held back by mere emotions. Show others how to move on and make progress from the ashes of defeat and misfortune.
In the end, the tears of David and his men did not count, but their efforts to chase after the Amalekites counted. Always remember, mere tears will not bring change. Move from tears to action; move from emotions to strategic action.
Isaiah 33: 7 says: “Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.”
