Bible Verse of the Day October 18, 2026: Matthew 18:20
Bible verse of the day for October 18, 2026: Matthew 18:20. Learn what it means that Jesus is present where believers gather, with a short prayer.
Bible Verse of the Day October 18, 2026: Matthew 18:20
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20, KJV)
Meaning of the Verse
Jesus promises His presence when His followers meet together. You do not need a large crowd, a famous speaker or a special building. A small group gathered in His name is enough.
“Where two or three are gathered”
This includes a family at the table, a prayer group on a call, a small church in a rented hall or friends praying in a living room.
“In my name”
Gathering “in His name” means gathering around Jesus and for His purposes, not just meeting socially.
“There am I in the midst of them”
Jesus does not stand at the edge. He is “in the midst,” at the centre. Even a quiet, simple gathering is a place where He is present.
Context
Jesus said this in a passage about resolving conflict and praying in agreement. Unity and prayer together carry weight with God.
How to Apply It Today
- Gather with at least one other believer today, in person or online, to pray or worship.
- Invite someone who is alone to join you.
- Pray with your family, even for two minutes.
Short Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for being present when Your people gather. Meet with us today, and draw us closer to You and to one another. Amen.
