Bible Verse of the Day October 23, 2026: Psalm 37:7

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” (Psalm 37:7, KJV)

Meaning of the Verse

David gives three instructions: rest, wait and do not fret. They are especially helpful when we are tempted to compare ourselves with others or to rush ahead of God.

“Rest in the LORD”

Resting means settling your heart in God’s care. It is trust, not laziness.

“Wait patiently for him”

Waiting is active hope. We keep praying and obeying while God works in His timing.

“Fret not thyself”

To fret is to burn with worry or frustration. David warns that comparing ourselves with those who seem to be getting ahead only drains us.

Context

Psalm 37 was written by David as an older man who had watched many people succeed through dishonesty. His conclusion is that God sees everything and will settle every account in His time.

How to Apply It Today

• Notice one comparison that has been stealing your peace, and hand it to God.
• Spend two quiet minutes simply resting in His presence.
• Remind yourself that a delay is not a denial.

Short Prayer

Lord, help me to rest in You and wait patiently. Quiet my fretting and let me trust Your timing. Amen.
