Question(s) for Reflection
• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?
Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 March 2022 Devotional | Outline
This passage provides some details of the beginning of life on the earth. The clouds and subsequent rains were initiated for the plants to sprout from the ground (vs.5‐6). Creation of the first man, Adam, is presented in v.7; man was created by the Lord God from dust from the ground. The man became a living being only after God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Read vs.8‐9 and find out what provisions the Lord God made for the man.
What further provisions were made for the sustenance of the Garden of Eden into which the man was put? See vs.10‐14. God loves humans and provides the suitable and pleasant environment for our survival and enjoyment. Adam was given responsibility. Check this in v.15 and find out two assignments for Adam. It is worthy of note that humans have the responsibility, not only to utilize the land but also to preserve it.
Environmental degradation, especially in many parts of Africa is a disgrace and failure of our people and governments to obey God’s command in v.15. The life in the Garden of Eden was to be guided by some simple rules. Identify these rules in vs.16‐17.
