Scripture Union Daily Guide 12th February 2026 — Outline

In prophesying God’s judgment, Jeremiah uses the imagery of God’s cup of fury. This gives a description of wrath and judgment. Peter warned that judgment would start with God’s people (1 Peter 4:17). In the same way, the wrath was first for Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. If God will not spare His own people, how much more those who are not?

This will account for the long list in Jeremiah 25:19-26, indicating that none can escape from this judgment of God. Notice the effect of the content of God’s wrath (Jeremiah 25:27,29, compare Psalms 75:8). It is indeed a terrible thing to come under the judgment of God. What does this say about the constant refusal to heed God’s warnings?

The Church today has a responsibility, like Jeremiah, to warn the people of the coming wrath on all the children of disobedience. In addition, we have the good news that on the cross, Jesus has taken the bitter cup of God’s wrath that is rightly ours. Making Him Lord of our lives implies that we will not receive the cup of God’s fury.

And So
None needs drink the cup of God’s fury and perish.
