Scripture Union Daily Guide 31 October 2026 Outline

Peter reminds us that as people who have been saved by Christ, we are called to live holy lives (1 Peter 1:15-16). What is holiness? Holiness is not just a moral standard; it is God’s very nature. We were created in God’s image to live fully for His will. Sin shattered that original design, but Christ came to restore us. Salvation is not just about escaping judgment; it is a call to a transformed life that reflects God’s holiness. Holiness is not occasional righteousness; it is a life consistently set apart for God.

Read 1 Peter 1:13-15 again and note some helpful commands for living a holy life. Peter also points us to the power of God’s Word in living a holy life (1 Peter 1:22-23). We were saved by obedience to the Word of God; living a holy life will also be by obedience to it. As we submit to Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to rule our hearts, He enables us to live in complete surrender to God’s will. And that is the holy life, the purpose for which Jesus has saved us.
