Scripture Union Daily Guide 25 October 2026 Outline

Moses at 120 years and about to die was to hand over leadership to Joshua. This was a very solemn moment. He had given assurances to Joshua in Deuteronomy 32:3,5-6 that the faithful, loving, powerful Lord God is with His people through all the challenging phases and transitions of life. How have you experienced this truth in your personal life, family or faith community?

In his song, Moses contrasted God’s kind acts with Israel’s ingratitude and unfaithfulness. Identify the verses which assert that God is mighty and strong, just, merciful and absolutely dependable. Deuteronomy 32:6,9-14 narrate some of the great things God did for Israel; while Deuteronomy 32:5,15-18 give a vivid account of how Israel repaid the kindness with ingratitude. Note that God’s love for them did not mean He would condone or ignore their sin and disobedience. See Deuteronomy 32:19-22.

“When a little child falls, he looks ahead; but an elder looks back when he falls” (A Yoruba adage). The elder, unlike the little child, wants to see what caused his fall to avoid it in future. It may be useful to pause and think for a moment how much of God’s goodness we have received in the last five years or so, and try to assess if our level of commitment and devotion to God has reflected our indebtedness to Him.
