Notice the objections people raise with respect to the resurrection: “How are the dead raised?”; “With what kind of body will they come?” (v.35). The Apostle Paul uses an illustration from nature to respond to these questions. A seed must fall into the ground and die before the plant can come forth (v.36). God mysteriously gives a different body to each kind of seed that is sown (vs.37, 38). Animals have different bodies and there are also earthly and heavenly bodies. Each has its own glory, and each differs from the other, including the sun, moon, and stars (v.41).
Read vs.42-44 and notice the differences between our current body and the body we will receive in the resurrection. Our current body is perishable, dishonoured, weak, and natural (ESV). At the resurrection, we will take on the supernatural body, which is enduring, glorious and powerful. It will be like the post-resurrection body of our Lord (see John 20:26; Luke 24:30-31). The new body is the only kind that can endure the life that lies ahead of believers. Our present flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God (v.50).

And So: Memorize 1 Corinthians 15:49 and thank God for the assurance that, ‘we shall bear the likeness of the man from heaven’.
