Scripture Union Daily Guide 23 October 2026 Outline

Moses had led the Israelites for forty years as they traversed the desert. Now, they stand at the edge of the Promised Land. Notice the reasons he cannot continue to lead God’s people (Deuteronomy 31:1-2). However, as a good leader, he had prepared Joshua for leadership. More than that, he pointed them to the real leader, the Lord, who neither grows old nor becomes weak. Moses constantly impressed upon them to look up to the Lord and trust in Him. The challenge facing Joshua, the new leader, is daunting but the One who gave Moses all his victories is ever there to support and give him (and us) victory over every enemy, however strong they may appear to be.

Notice the steps Moses took to ensure that current and future generations continue to ‘fear the Lord’ (Deuteronomy 31:9-12). As we noted yesterday, we do have access to the Bible today. We have the responsibility to meditate on it daily and then teach it to our children so we and they may learn to trust and fear the Lord. In that is daily victory.

And So:
Consider how you would help future generations to love and trust the Lord.
