Scripture Union Daily Guide 6 September 2026 Outline

God provided the first two stone tablets (Exodus 24:12). But this time, Moses had to do the hard work of cutting out the stones. After all, he destroyed the first set. God rewrote the ten commandments on the stone tablets (Deuteronomy 10:1-5). Why was this action necessary? Notice the importance of the Book of the Law in the life of God’s children (Joshua 1:8-9; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). God promised to write His laws in our hearts and no longer on the tables of stone. Why? See Jeremiah 31:31-34. How does this apply to us today? Hebrews 8:7-11. We should be doers of the word, and not hearers only (James 1:22).

God chose Eleazar to replace his father, Aaron and He chose the tribe of the Levites to serve as His ministers (Deuteronomy 10:6-9). We learn that nobody is indispensable in God’s service. We also discovered that He has equally chosen us to be His priests (Revelations 1:6). Notice His purpose(s) for this (1 Peter 2:5,9)! Read Deuteronomy 10:12-13,16,19-20 again. What does God command us to do and what are the benefits derivable from obeying Him? Note what God reveals about Himself in Deuteronomy 10:14-18.

Insight
Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

What next:
Circumcision of the heart means removing the stubbornness that prevents us from obeying God. Only God can do this, but one must surrender to Him willingly (Deuteronomy 30:6). Father, circumcise my heart afresh today.
