Daily Devotional October 13, 2026: The God of Hope Fills You With Joy

Today’s Scripture: Romans 15:13

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

When Hope Feels Thin

By Tuesday, the energy of a new week has often faded, and the things you were hoping for may still seem far away. A job, a healing, a reconciliation or a breakthrough can feel like it will never come. Paul wrote this prayer for believers who needed more than positive thinking. They needed a God who is the source of hope itself.

What the Verse Teaches

God Is the Source of Hope

Paul calls Him “the God of hope.” Hope is not something we manufacture. It flows from who God is: faithful, powerful and good.

Joy and Peace Come “in Believing”

Joy and peace do not wait for circumstances to improve. They grow as we choose to trust God in the middle of the situation.

Hope Can Overflow

“That ye may abound in hope” means more than getting by. God wants your hope to overflow, through the power of the Holy Spirit and not through your own effort.

Reflection Questions

• What am I hoping for that feels delayed?
• Where have I let discouragement replace trust?
• What has God done in the past that I can use to strengthen my hope today?

Today’s Action Step

Write down one thing you are hoping for. Beside it, write one way God has been faithful before. Pray Romans 15:13 over your list, replacing “you” with your own name.

Closing Prayer

God of hope, fill me with joy and peace as I trust You. Where my hope is weak, strengthen it by Your Spirit. Let my hope overflow today. Amen.
