Bible Verse of the Day October 13, 2026: Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28, KJV)
Meaning of the Verse
This is one of the most quoted and most misunderstood verses in the Bible. It does not say that everything that happens is good. It says that God is able to weave even painful and confusing events into His good purpose for those who love Him.
“We know”
Paul speaks with confidence. This is not a hope based on guesswork. It rests on what we know of God’s character.
“All things work together for good”
Notice the phrase “work together.” Different events, including hard ones, are combined by God toward a good result that we may not see yet.
“To them that love God… the called according to his purpose”
The promise is for people who belong to God and are following His purpose. Our lives are not random. They are held inside His plan.
Context
Romans 8 begins with “no condemnation” and ends with “nothing shall separate us from the love of God.” Verse 28 sits in the middle, reminding suffering believers that God is still at work.
How to Apply It Today
- Name one situation that does not make sense, and pray, “Lord, I trust You to work this for good.”
- Avoid telling others that their pain is “good.” Offer comfort and presence instead.
- Look back at a past hardship and note how God brought good from it.
Short Prayer
Lord, I do not understand everything, but I trust that You are working for my good. Help me to rest in Your purpose today. Amen.
