Daily Devotional October 7, 2026: Be Still, God Is in Control

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

The Middle of the Week Needs God Too

By Wednesday, the energy of Monday has often faded and the weekend still feels far away. Deadlines, bills, family needs and unanswered prayers can pile up. Into that noise, God speaks a simple instruction: be still.

What the Verse Teaches

Stillness Is an Act of Faith

Being still does not mean doing nothing forever. It means refusing to panic and choosing to trust that God is at work even when you cannot see it.

Knowing God Calms the Heart

The command is “know that I am God.” Peace grows when we remember who He is: powerful, faithful and in control of what overwhelms us.

God Will Be Exalted

Whatever you are facing, God’s purpose is bigger than your problem. He will be glorified, and He invites you to rest in that.

Reflection Questions

• Where am I striving instead of trusting?
• What noise do I need to turn down so I can hear God?
• What do I know about God’s character that I need to remember today?

Today’s Action Step

Take five minutes of complete quiet today. Turn off notifications, breathe slowly and pray: “Lord, I know that You are God. I trust You with this week.”

Closing Prayer

Father, quiet my racing mind. Help me to be still and know that You are God. I place my worries in Your hands and trust You for the rest of this week. Amen.
